Itasca, IL - It was a cool, wet, and cloudy July morning. Puddles littered the streets from the rains the night before. Subarus of all different models, colors, and years from all over the country gathered in a parking lot in Itasca to try and set a Guinness world record for the largest parade of Subaru cars. That's when something miraculous occured.
All of a sudden the sky opened up and the sun shined down on the town of Itasca and the pack of Subarus. The engines were started and the town of Itasca shook from the sound of the boxer engines. Hella horns and blow off valves shouted to the town of Itasca that the Subarus were on their way.
The blue and red lights from the Itasca Police Department’s Subaru STi’s lighted the way through town for the Subarus. Itasca

residents lined up the streets to greet the parade of Subarus and their owners. The line of cars stretched over a mile long through the streets of Itasca.
A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was there to greet the Subaru enthusiasts at the finish line. All in all there were 339 Subarus that finished the parade. Subaru of America, the Itasca Police Department, and the Subaru drivers set a world record for the largest parade of Subaru cars.
The parade also helped support a worthy cause, PAWS Chicago. PAWS Chicago is the Chicago's largest no kill humane organization. Subaru of America donated $15 per car to PAWS Chicago which totaled $5,085. A good time was had by all, new friends were made, money was raised for a good cause, and a world record was set.
Guinness World Records™ Adjudicator Carlos Martínez was in Itasca to officially announce the new world record by presenting Guinness World Records certificates to Mr Tom Gehrke, of Subaru of America Inc., and to Chief Bob O’Connor, representing the Village of Itasca.
