Hyundai Supercar in Development?

Hyundai Supercar Rumors
Could it be true? Could Hyundai really be developing a Supercar?  If the rumors are true, the Supercar South Korean automaker, Hyundai, will be priced somewhere between $80,000 and $100,000. It will be powered by a 5.0L V8 engine.  This move could propel Hyundai into direct competition with the Nissan GT-R and Audi R8.

According to the rumors, the car will be a coupe and the customers buying it will get same benefits as customers of the Equus sedan, including pick-up and delivery service for servicing of the car and an iPad owners manual.

The Hyundai Supercar ideal was brought into existance with the assistance of Rays Millen with the development of their mid-engine 4.6L Genesis Coupe, seen below in the videos.

There is no confirmation from Hyundai, in fact CEO John Krafcik has said that there isn’t any Supercar in development.

But still the rumors are swirling, and some other details suggest that the company will be considering front and mid-engine designs, but the only engine that being considered is an all new Tao 5.0 ltr all-aluminum V8 engine of Hyundai. The engine now powers the Genesis R-Spec, and very soon it will be under the hood of the bigger and pricier Equus sedan. The 5.0 ltr all-aluminium engine of the car is a bored-out edition of the 4.6 ltr direct injection V8 engine having a higher compression ratio. The engine powering the Genesis R-Spec sedan generates 429 bhp of maximum power and 376 lbs-ft of maximum torque.

If and when Hyundai’s Supercar turns into reality, the V8 engine of the car will give power only to the rear wheels.

The Hyundai purists definitely will love a true manual transmission having three pedals, but the automaker will only will be having one, the 6-speed transmission, which is used in the less powerful Genesis Coupe. The rumors also claim that the transmission powering it is not capable of handling the torque of the V8. The current market might also demand a twin-clutch auto manual transmission, just like what Hyundai has used in forthcoming Veloster hatchback. But even that transmission isn’t suitable for a rear-drive V8 powered Supercar. So, the question still persists.
