The THMotorsports Racing Team has had a long journey with many up's and downs. Sometimes the downs outway the up's, but one thing's for sure. The THMotorsports Redline Time Attack car is definately on the up. The THMotorsports Racing Team ran at Sebring two moths ago and experienced a ton of problems, and slowly worked them out. The team followed up Sebring with a few local Chicago area track days and continued to fine tune the car. The fruits of the THMotorsports Racing Team's labor seems to be paying off with their recent success at the Autobahn Country Club Race track this weekend, October 2, for a high speed autoX. Basically standing start HOT lap, and a fly by finish at the finish line.
Despite the THMotorsports' success there was, inevetiably, some issues. After tooling around with the ECU and figuring out why it was not regulating boost correctly, a light shined down on them through the gloomy clouds. The THM Racing Team then ran the waste-gate with the stock spring set at 1.2 BAR, instead of using the faulty boost controller, which was supposed to be set @ 1.8 BAR. The faulty boost controller would randomly let the turbo go as far as it can. 2.2 BAR+ (not fun/good.
With a nice steady boost delivery the THMotorsports Racing Team was able to focus on racing. The team was able to knock out lap times that were basically just as fast, if not faster faster than our competition did at Red Line Time Attack at the same track 2 months ago, which will make the THMotorsports Racing Team very competitive in the up coming 2011 Redline Time Attack season if we keep this up. And for the people are screaming, "Hey! It's much colder than it was 2 month's ago", I'd have to agree. However, the team did run at 1.2 BAR vs. 1.8 BAR.

Overall it was great learning experience for the THMotorsports Racing Team and yet another track day to further prepare us for Redline Time Attack next season. We want this car to be more than bullet proof. BTW our Ghetto lip is a new test in progress. ha ha...it turned out pretty good with lots of grip. We basically lowered it by about 3 inches to see how it would react. It did very well and we will make a nice non duct tape version of it. Also front overfenders were finally painted and rear overfenders will be going on as well.
The THMotorsports Racing Team looks poised to take their STi even further this next year at the 2011 Redline Time Attack.
