The first set to look at are the Cusco Coilovers. They are made out of thick and rigid aluminum which keeps the weight down and the durability last a long time. Users say that fitment is pretty much perfect, even the abs and brake lines are very percise and fit right on the dot. They come pre-assembled and adjusted to a factory setting and are easy to adjust to personal liking. Drivers who have had these coilovers say that after 35,000 miles of rough cornering they still love them and have no problems. Another great plus is that these coilovers have pillow balls, which don't make noise. In an IS300 luxury is expected and loud creaking or any kind of noise from the pillow balls would make the car feel cheap, luckily with the Cusco coilover system that will not be a problem. The only slight downside, a number of drivers say that these a bit more bouncy than expected during regular driving and even small imperfections in the road can be felt by the occupants. Even though the ride is a little bumpy, users did say they can corner around 20 mph faster on most corners. If your looking for something tough that will last a long time Cusco Coilovers are something definitely worth taking a look at... product link

If your looking for an affordable set of coilovers Megan Racing Coilovers are a cheap way to upgrade. Some people felt that these shocks were a replica of the Ksport coilovers but after testing them out there are many differences. One of the improvements over the K Sport coilovers is that the clunk noise is gone that the Ksports have. Another nice thing is that they don't have as much bouncing around, which makes the ride a lot more comfortable while keeping the damper settings tight. Both these coilovers are an upgrade from stock although the Megan coilovers seem to be a upgrade to the K Sport. One of the bad things about the Megan coilovers is that users complained that the fitment is not very exact. Some people had to dremel out holes and make them into an oval in order to get bolts through. For the low cost of these coilovers I still think it is worth it if your on a budget. The k sport are not as good as the Megans but each driver has their own preference and may like the k sport over the Megans in their own way. Both of these coilovers are mostly best for street and looks, while the track times will be improved over stock the gain will mostly be seen on the street.
Coilovers improve the cornering abilities of the car as well as braking and acceleration. The better the car is planted to the road the better grip and response the car will have. Not only is there better performance but also better looks as the cars height can be adjusted. There are several different brands to choose from and they all have their own characteristics but are all great in their own way. Once you install any of these kits on to the IS300 its time to go on some great roads or tracks and start having the fun that would never be possible without the proper coilovers.
