A hot new toy that you need to either know about or be worried about has finally been unleashed. The 2.0L turbo charged Hyundai Genesis is out and ready to dominate the streets. If you think Hyundai is still slow and boring like the Elantra, it’s time to get checked because the next time you see the Genesis you might get blown away. The Genesis has a great sporty appearance similar to the Tiburon from the rear and the G37 from the front, so expect to see heads turn when you pass by. This is a rear wheel drive sports car aimed for the ones out there looking for something fast at a very affordable price. The track version not only come with a cool name, but it offers Brembo brakes, 19” wheels, a limited slip differential and many more sporty features that are hard to come by these days. Since we are the mad scientists of cars and need to experiment and make cars into rocket powered pods, we’ve created a procedure to make this Genesis create a smoking trail. Let’s take a look at what we can do to make the Genesis the next feared street machine!
We have a good foundation to build off of as the car offers rear wheel drive, a turbocharged 4 cylinder, and 210 horsepower. The combinations and possibilities of endless configurations leading up to tip-top performance are available as the similar power plant proved itself in the Mitsubishi “Evo” holding its ground against anything that stood its way. Check out how you can turn the already impressive 15.4 second ¼ mile time down a couple notches lower.
Hyundai Genesis 2.0L: Cold Air Intake

The
Injen cold air intake (SP Series Intake /
Part#: SP1386BLK) makes a great replacement for the Genesis as it features a high flowing filter and complete piping to make it not only gain power and performance but the sparkle under the hood as well. Adding an Injen Intake system will increase the sound of the engine making it a little louder, letting it freely roar since the silencers are gone. Air intake systems, believe it or not, also improve the gas mileage and with the gas prices we have today, I can’t think of one person that would be against gaining a few extra mpg. Since a performance air intake lets an engine breathe easier guess what else gets affected? The turbo! How? Well if you can breathe faster, the turbo will be able to spin quicker and more responsively as there is less restrictions! Everyone thinking turbo lag will be confronted with the truth as when the right setup is configured, turbo lag is not really a problem anymore. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to cars or if you are an experienced technician, an intake system is something everyone should be able to install on their own, which makes the entire experience even more enjoyable. With an intake upgrade, you can experience up to 10 horsepower gains which will make for an easy low cost mod.
THMotorsports carries intakes in stock ready to find its way under your hood to satisfy your specific needs.
Hyundai Genesis 2.0L Exhaust

If you’re like the most of us, we can clearly say the fun is there, but more is soon demanded to get that rush of dopamine in our brains. As we move further in the journey of
reaching new heights of performance the next step is to upgrade the
exhaust. The exhaust is not just a bunch of pipes put together to get gasses from one point to another like your dryer in the laundry room. A real performance exhaust is composed of a specific diameter, the least bends for best flow, and a signature note that distinguishes it from the competition. For the mission I recommend the
Greddy Spectrum Elite. Greddy truly makes a great exhaust and does not leave out any details. The free flowing pipes make for a straight to the point product that has its eyes on the prize, performance. After they got the performance, they made it sounds great and look even better. I know you are about to tell me how many times you got pulled over because your "can" made too much noise, but hold on a second and listen to this! Greddy has sound tested their products making sure their street legal so you can say good bye to getting stopped by the caffeinated Dunkin' Donuts patrol. As with the intake the exhaust helps turbo reaction making less lag and better response. A
cat back exhaust delivers around 10-15 horsepower of performance looks and sound that are destined to get you to the next highs of tuning. Installation is also rated more on the simpler side as this is a do it yourself bolt on product.
Hyundai Genesis 2.0L Braking

Top speed and acceleration brings us great joy and excitement, but everyone needs to remember to stay safe by having a good
brake system to help avoid any unexpected occurrence while we are enjoying our cars.
Hawk Performance street
brake pads are a direct replacement for the original brake pads which are made to handle just over stock braking loads. Brakes are not only for safety, but in fact they actually help you go faster! At auto cross and road course events, slowing down for corners in a shorter time is part of the key in obtaining the lowest time possible. Big brake kits are very expensive and can take a lot of time and experience to install. The Hawk pads fit right into the stock calipers and deliver improved braking distance right out of the box. Again this is another product
THMotorsports offers conveniently as means to perfect the Hyundai Genesis.

Hyundai Genesis 2.0L Engine Cooling

Even though the Genesis comes with parts that can handle a beating, there is no point to try to push the parts to the limit. Stay safe by keeping the
engines cooling system at an unstrained level so that your engine lasts longer and you don’t have any unexpected surprises.
