The day before 9/11, I had embarked on a new position as a Mazda and VW salesman. These two car lines quickly became my favorites despite my love for my 1995 Nissan 240SX SE. The country was in a state on instability and George Bush was attempting to seize back control. With all of the United States’ power, we actually had no real control.
During this time I read a report that pitted the Mazda Protégé Speed up against the Corvette in the slalom. You would think that the Corvette would come out as the obvious top-dog, but that was not the case. The Mazda out-handled the Corvette and completed the slalom in a faster time. Fast-forward now to 2009; I’m sitting in THMotorsports where our employees, Adam and Kurt, are laughing about a local DJ, DJ Markski and his Porsche 922 Turbo and how Adam, in his RX-8, beat him on the track. DJ Markski is running close to 900HP in his car, however could not beat a car with close to 300HP.
The proof is in the pudding. When track racing, horse power is not everything, but handling is. If you do not have the handling to go along with the horse-power, you’ll be the one laughed at too. For many years THMotorsports has been recommending Stance products for great handling. Stance has a handling system for everyone. Whether you want a daily driven car or a street-able track car, they’ve got it. And they’ve got it at prices that won’t kill your pocketbook!
There are 5 different coilover packages to choose from with Stance. Here they are:

The LX+Plus is designed for the enthusiast that wants greater performance than their standard dampers without sacrificing ride comfort. The LX+Plus uses twin-tube technology to give a unique, luxurious ride quality. 15-way adjustable damping allows the driver to tune the shocks for any condition or handling characteristic.

The GR+Plus is our flagship line. It features 15-way damping adjustable monotube shocks, which allows the driver to fine-tune the handling and ride. A separate lower bracket allows the ride height to be adjusted without sacrificing stroke. Spherical bearings are used to give the driver greater feedback. Inverted monotube shocks are utilized on strut types for greater rigidity and heat dissipation. Camber adjustable upper mounts are used on strut types.

GR+ Pro coilover has all the features of the GR+ but adds the benefit of a helper spring. The helper spring allows the shock piston to be placed in the optimal position within the shock body, increasing rebound stroke, and maximizing articulation on cars with minimum suspension travel.
SS-D The Special Setting Dampers were developed to meet the special demands of the circuit. The SS-D is valved to work in conjunction with race tires to maximize traction. The GR+ Pro SS-D were used to win national titles in both drifting and time attack; setting the highest benchmark for itself - winning.

AL+Pro is based on our popular GR+Pro model. AL+Pro features full aluminum shell construction which has excellent anti-corrosion characteristics for customers that see extreme weather conditions. The aluminum shell casing is also lighter than steel, providing less unsprung mass for greater response. The helper spring allows the shock piston to be placed in the optimal position within the shock body, increasing rebound stroke, and maximizing articulation on cars with minimum suspension travel.

GR+3Way is our top of the line coilover. The GR+3Way features 3-way adjustability, enabling the driver to fine tune low-speed and high-speed bump separately from rebound. An external reservoir is connected to the damper using specially designed fittings that allow the line to swivel and disconnect for packaging and servicing convenience. An optional tool is also available to adjust the gas pressure to give the driver the ultimate adjustment control.

After driving my 1995 Nissan 240SX SE for 5 years, I purchased a 2000 VW Jetta GLX VR6, in 2003. My driving time between the two seem became split and eventually I sold the 240SX. Ever since then, I miss the thrill of driving a car that can actually handle the twisties and I’m afraid to say it, but I had fallen under the same category as DJ Markski’s Porshe. Sure I had more power and torque, but there was only one way to go with all of that, in a straight line. If you love a car with power and handling, Stance coilover packages are definitely the way to go.
